Donate financiallY
By donating to Emanuel Food Pantry, you can make a direct and meaningful impact in the lives of local families.
While we receive quite a bit of donated food, there are shortfalls every week. Your financial contributions help us purchase large quantities of food each week, ensuring that we can serve as many families as possible with a well balanced range of food.
As a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization, your donations are tax-deductible to the extent allowed by law. We appreciate any and all support you can give to help us fight food insecurity in our community. We are particularly grateful to those sustainers who sign up to make a recurring donation - this helps us continue to purchase food week after week.

We also accept food donations to help keep our pantry stocked. Some of the most helpful items to donate include shelf-stable dry goods such as rice, beans, cereal, pasta, tomato sauce, canned tuna or chicken, canned vegetables, and mac and cheese.
Donating food is a great way to support our mission of feeding families in need in our community. Thank you for your generosity!

Impactful Giving - Real Stories
JACKIE is a delightful older woman, full of personality and warmth. A few weeks ago, she said that thanks to the food she receives, she is feeling much better and has finally gained 2 pounds. She proudly shared that she now weighs 100 pounds! Every week she keeps us posted about her health, and never fails to thank us for the ways our food is helping her get stronger and healthier.
ALAN went through a challenging time with depression which kept him out of work for several months. Our food pantry helped him weather that tough spell, and he now has found a job working the night shift in a group home. His happy smile has returned, and he reports every week about how much better he is doing. He loves all the fresh fruit and vegetables that we provide and credits them with his steadily improving health.
FREDDY could be seen before the pandemic sitting on his folding camp chair on the corner of N Roxboro and Carver Street, holding a scribbled sign asking for help. His big smile reveals the few teeth he has left. Fred is handicapped, yet resembles a big, happy teddy bear. Since discovering our food pantry, he has had no need to return to his corner on Roxboro and Carver. He loves coming every week for food. We greet him by name, and he knows that he is welcome. Seeing him, sensing his joy, our spirits are lifted.
MARIA has the sweetest smile you will ever see. Her 9-year old son is shy, but has inherited his mom’s beautiful smile. Her 4-month old daughter is as cute as can be. Maria’s smile masks the struggles she is facing. Her husband died several months ago. She works long hours in a restaurant, but as a single mom, her income does not come close to covering their basic expenses. When we load her car up with a bountiful box of fresh vegetables and fruit, and a bag with lots of shelf-stable items, we know that she and her children will appreciate every bite of that healthy food. Whenever possible, we add meat, eggs or milk to her box. Her gratitude is sincere and deep. We wish we could do more.
DAVID shows up every Wednesday with his dogs — lovingly known as his family. Both the car and David have some miles under them. Recently, he discovered a tumor in his abdomen that required surgery. Anxious, he reminded us of his upcoming operation and asked for prayers. Post-surgery, he came back to the food pantry, lifting his shirt to reveal a long scar. Every week, he reported on his progress, and kept showing us the scar until it was well healed. He never fails to thank us for the food and say he loves us. We know that he is not only thanking us for the food, but also for caring, for knowing his name. We have become his family, too.
PAULA cleans houses for a living, but work is sporadic since the pandemic. She had knee surgery a few years ago, and continues to pay monthly medical bills. Stretching pennies, she struggles to feed her family. Since coming to our food pantry, she claims her health has improved, and her outlook on life is far more positive. She looks forward to receiving food, especially the fresh vegetables and fruit, but also being greeted with warmth and friendly smiles from volunteers. She thanks us profusely every week.
