FAQ
Who is eligible?
Everyone is eligible! We welcome anyone who needs assistance. No ID or documentation is required. To help us best serve you, we do ask that you provide some basic information by filling out a form, including your name and the number of people in your family. This information is used to help understand the needs of our community and ensure that we have enough resources to serve everyone. Thank you for your cooperation!
What is the process?
Here's how it works (click here to watch the video above):
- We operate every week on Wednesdays from 2-4pm.
- Cars begin lining up about an hour beforehand, so as you drive up, follow the directions of our volunteers to find the end of the line. A good place to start is at the intersection of E Lavender Ave and Banner St.
- Please be mindful not to block any driveways or intersections!
- A volunteer will hand you a ticket that includes a number and a short form to fill out. Please bring something to write with if possible, and then place the number on your dashboard.
- As you enter the parking lot of the church, open your trunk and a volunteer will direct you to the appropriate spot.
- Stay in your car and our volunteers will load boxes and bags of food into your trunk.
- Finally, a volunteer will collect your ticket on your way out!
What types of food are typically available?
At Emanuel Food Pantry, we strive to provide a wide variety of nutritious and delicious food items for our visitors. Our offerings include a range of dry goods such as cereal, rice, beans, canned goods, as well as fresh fruits and vegetables, bread, and meat when possible. While the availability of specific items may vary depending on donations and seasonal changes, our goal is to provide a nutritious and balanced range of foods each week.
Can I get food for my neighbor or friend?
Unfortunately we are currently only able to give ONE ticket per car.
Do I have to get out of my car?
Nope! Make sure there is room in your trunk (or back seat), and open your trunk as you pull into the parking lot. Our volunteers will load the food into your car for you.
Where does the food come from?
We source our food from a variety of places to ensure that we can provide a diverse range of nutritious options for our visitors. The bulk of our food comes from distributors such as the Food Bank of Central & Eastern NC, Interfaith Food Shuttle, Farmer Foodshare, Whole Foods, Costco, Happy Dirt, and El Camino. In addition, we receive both dry goods and produce from individuals, church groups, and small farmers.
We are grateful for the support of these organizations and businesses, as well as the many individual donors who contribute to our food pantry. Without their generosity, we would not be able to provide this important service to our community.
